Derrick
8-23-12
In my heavy lifting of my derrick
By the arm of this jib crane
To come to a conclusion
That none of this has been in vain
Yet to experience a sadness
That is not contrary to a well being I am yet to see
Looking back on my drink binges
I would be saturated within on nights of prolific
Yet adulterated spiritual pursuits
I still know this treasure that no man today can take away....
Side Course
8-23-12
For every burden there is a blessing
Like cottage cheese drowned in French salad dressing
That was my fix at my school lunch
Chosen rather than the main course
In that I choose to bathe again
To baptize my race horse
She anticipates a challenge at the gate
Where the starting gun is fired
Where for every burden there is a blessing...
On Guard
8-24-12
Guarding my own sarcophagus
Just as the sepulcher where the stone is rolled away
Where I rise at six
Determined to start again this sunshiny day
Making sure that no thieves steal the body of the Savior
When the guards are fast asleep
This page poorly written is the stepping stone
Towards what I will write the rest of the day...

Jehovah is my flag I put on display
In that in class I take the initiative
To speak up about the truth that is in me
Where my feline companion is a perfect example
Of such innocence that is not as indolence nor ignorance
Where Jehovah is my flag that I wave in the winds of wisdom
Defined as applying to life what I read about
Yet to become accustomed to this new drug...
On Exodus 17:7
8-23-12
Seeking out sorrow of a godly sort
For it is better than living in fear
Seeking to shed tears over the things I have failed to grieve
Seeking wisdom because I didn't care much about it back in school
Being the outcast and the laughingstock of the class of ninety-one
Tasting the bitter waters of my Massah and Meribah
To express this thirst
As the sorrow of godly sort...

Cabala
Cabala
8-23-12
In my cabala of esoteric philosophies
I find wonderful flavors of my potluck stew
As a brother I know from the congregation pays me a compliment
To call me the machine of poems to be a blessing
Where I ought to take it graciously
In my cabala of esoteric philosophy
Keeping me going back to seek out more in my mystical means
Of interpreting Scripture taught in the dark that which I will speak in the light.....
Doing My Something
8-23-12
Practicing my mindfulness with mindlessness
Taking it easy today in hopes for a remedy for this monotony
Doing my something in her little sweet nothing of whispers that comfort me
As I look upon these empty spaces
Filled by the void itself
Practicing compassion with my prayers for them who are here to assist
Where the objective is to flow free and cease to try to resist...
Pillow
8-23-12
Dolmen realms of love
Are as havens in the firmament
Of mercies from above
Resting upon a pillow of the consolation for which I pray
In the faith with supplication
Involentary like the work of the heart pumping dopamine into this moment
Of Dolmen realms of love in search for the peace to pull me through....
Purchase
8-23-12
Purchasing as much spiritual and intellectual fodder
At the market that I can afford
As Joshua discomfits Amalek with the power given of God
By the edge of the sword
To be as forage to all that make their way
To the root of the tree left behind after it needed to be removed
Being tall enough to be seen such from all ends of the earth
Purchasing this fodder at face value for what it's worth.....

open mind
Open Mind
1-9-03
Sometimes I don't know just who I am
Or who I want to be
Experimenting with that county music
With barbeque ribs instead of ham
And a whole new world unfolds
As new and mysterious colons now I can see
And I walk like I just bought a new pair of boots
As I still bear that open mind
Of banjoes, saxophones and flutes
and today at least seven times I said to myself
That I know not who I am becoming
As I taste in my coffee the base picking
And a new way of strumming
And I'm humbled by an idle word that slipped out
And I need get on with this and proceed
With cheer under the pressure of the current of a rushing stream
That once would only run on doubt
But today I was filled by a new hope
After reeling in from a deeper water hole that prize trout...
Hunger, The Evidence
1-8-03
Looking around to see if I can reach out
As I equip the protein from the carp and trout
And now that I thought of such an image
Such hunger is evidence that I'm still living
And appetite will cover all traces of doubt
And it's a Thursday night activity that starts at about nine
As on the first playing of the record
I could almost smell the wine
But I don't need to go there now that I hold in my heart all I need
And so you sow that seed when you see a need
And reap a harvest later
And find this fruit is all you'll need....
The Name I Need Not Mention
1-9-03
In a strange dream I was given a name
One today I need not mention
As I literally flew through these corridors
To get out of the last class of the day
Even detention
But this is downright absurd
Because I graduated some ten years ago
And so my imagination was working overtime
As a dire need to get out was all I'd know
And I can't seem to find the right bus that would drop me off
Close to where I live
And I would reflect on the ways things operate
Back in the day and the many mistakes I need to forgive
And there are things I must forget
Out at the same time
I need preserve these memorials
And it's a nightmare where I don't feel the fear nor fret
As I fly away from a swarm of bees
By nostalgic sweet smelling seas.....

return to the deep blue
Return To The Deep Blue
1-9-03
There's no reason why I can't write like this at home
And return to the nostalgic glory and my joy
As I'd go out to roam
And so I'm in need to simulate these vintage moments
Without the necessity of going back to Babylon
And so I will need the alternative to give it a try
As so I put another record on
It's a number I can carry with me
Of which I must search in order to prove
And so I play this music
Whether it be against the grain
Or with the groove
There's no reason why I can't set up camp
Just like old times
As we as brothers discover
A new layer of atmosphere
And strike it rich with new deep blue rhymes....
Give It A Chance
1-9-03
So why don't you give it a chance
And dream up the day when you'll ask her for a dance
Seems so very far away from me
As I stand upon this mountaintop
And we need to come back down to sea level
As outside there's a road to rove
And in here a floor to sweep and mop
And you'll miss out on quite a lot
Upon your lofty cloud
As the Lord lifts up the lowly
And resists the proud
And I need remind myself tomorrow
To give it a chance
And push myself out on the floor
Fighting my nature to sit this one out
And I'll ask her for a dance....
The Proper Use Of The Stick
1-9-03
Don't be so hard on yourself, man
So I whisper
Knowing that sometimes you need get burned
Before you can get a tan
And your skin so peels
As you remember how it feels
In the days the hard way so you've learned
Don't hit yourself over the head with that stick
Rather use it for balance and support
Or maybe for a pillar for your tent
As you set up camp
And you build again that sacramental fort
And you manage to keep warm through to April and May
And you'd be ready to take that journey
When you realize you've made your way back to your vintage grape day.....

fence
My Fence
1-9-03
Beginning this here chapter
Was on an act of faith alone
As such can always be polished
Just as can any precious stone
Not sold for a price in the monetary sense
And don't get me wrong
For the reason to keep them out
I did not so build this fence
And still remains the mystery of the dark and light
And an extra coat of paint
Making it look just right
And I go on praying for the love
That I don't know that later I'll want
As such purpose is of above
And last night's words so haunt
Though the ghosts I meet in this hallway
Appear to be like a sweet memory
That I no longer mind....
Dedication In A Minor
1-9-03
It's time I play that anthem again
Just picked myself up the country western version
And to pray for a brother as I still have dreams to get out of this rut
And I plan my soon to be God sent excursion
And somehow I miss those whisperings I used to sip on under that overpass
I miss those oceans of emotions and keen senses of the scents of mown grass
And today I've come upon the hope that I will do it all again
And I so hand it all over and declare that it is up to the good Lord just when....
Dreamlike Docks
1-9-03
Praying for the path that God sets before me
The tools are all picked out of the box
And work all cut out for me
And boats all tied to dreamlike docks
And this dream hasn't quite hit me
As in such this state
Life as it is is easy to forget
And I'm caught up in my meditation
Of where I can be instead of here
And I no longer want to take it for granted
If I had just one resolution for this new year
And I owe it all to Jesus
Even if I don't know him very well
For I'm still learning
I always will be
And so I pray for the purpose here
And to climb out of this shell....

unfinished business
Unfinished Business
1-9-03
Seems like I said all there is to be said
But all I need to do is a little digging in these mines
And at times I get so hungry
That I would eat my stale bread
Don't want to take it for granted
For no one ever draws perfectly straight lines
And so I begin writing another book
Along the lines of a theme of a photograph I recently took
A magic moment frozen and suspended and such
Melted like an ice cube in a teacup
As such a love was made real
When at first I only depended
And you're going to need this
So you can be on your way
It was unfinished business
The love that never ended...
Those Other Rules
1-9-03
For the thousandth time
So I have three hours to kill
But instead I choose to bring them back to life
I picture my cat back at home waiting for me on the window sill
One more reason to forsake selfishness and strife
And so I choose to set myself free from the cage
For when I have this freedom
I need seek out other rules, statutes and laws from above
And a passion for truth that soon will rage
As I am not one to stand in judgment
Nor call them neither wisemen nor fools
And so for the thousandth and first time
I write about having three hours to kill
And it's one more day back at work
As with this Spirit I will cry out to get my fill....
