My Raft
5-22-17
In the same dark box
I confess all adulteries
And the daylight will soon be breaking
Tomorrow morning Lord willing
For a vague terror at this answer
As if you were my raft
And I let you slide
In lodgings at Galway
Good music in the making
With an effort of reason
And more cheat sheets for forward sons' strife
Of whisperer and slanderer
Brought up in a Puritanical Society
In hindsight twenty-twenty
In burgeoning ways about my days
At Old Saint Aloysius
We assemble and tremble
I think He died for me as well.....

same boat
Same Boat
5-22-17
Introduce yourself
As to list to obey
Waft is good a hue pronounced
And a weal introduced
Old maps still useful
To those that travel north
And go pour all joy forth
Lost forever in heavy traffic
Dreaming of crossing the river
Able to see two miles ahead of the boat we're in
As to pretend till you get your bearings
O, my people, behold arising contentions
As to commit works unto the Lord
So thoughts will be established
To declare unto you this day
What is spoken by father Mosiah
Glad to be back home with coffee and pen
Ready for tomorrow..
Pudding Of Reason
5-22-17
Over the line
Pudding of reason
And porridge of wisdom
As to obey the Spirit
That fills us from the inside out
So we might shine our light
For all that have been spoken of, our true token
Like a record again broken and no such haste
For a beautiful taste
Abiding modest and chaste
Awake and write these words in your book
Becoming saints through the atonement
That thou may rejoice as a king and a ruler placed in power
For another gospel hour
On the highway of the upright
Thank you and goodnight
What did we die of so young?
Viands
5-22-17
Riches in the form of corn and wheat
Viands for my organs and glands
Warming my colder hands
Contrary to that which just is
Thereby they may dwell
To continue ones address
O, Lord Omnipotent
What do you want me to confess
Of the well-meaning sentimentalist
Catching a glimpse of the mirror
Loving what I see
Where no crowns impede the messengers
Clad in armor
Throne established
My righteousness to dwell with God
In a state of never-ending happiness
That we choose
And we just can't lose...

hots
With The Hots Revisited
5-22-17
Meat, my washpot
Fighting dragons with crooked swords at high noon
So amazed seeing things so clear
This way thou gave the banner to they that fear Thee
O, quicken us to but proceed
So that I might see to the need
And I will hope continually
And praise Him more and more with psaltery
Where a merry heart makes a cheerful countenance
And a smile preaches a sermon of its own
Thou art my rock and fortress flying in Winchester cathedrals
Where I hope continually
I have not done these things that I might boast
But for His glory....
Much Poetry Is In It
5-22-17
Take this song of us
In our dark star
O, so wrong of us for spark so far
Herby I might pardon myself
Spending my days in Your service
Like as unto yourselves
such a book is not crooked of itself
For there is much poetry in it that I have caused
That you should assemble
Walking in a clean conscience
With those with eyes to see
Persevering from day to day
To but simply ramble
And with my time today I gamble
In a tome of cold interrogation
Orating to vulgarity
As a pennyboy to those who seem poor in Spirit
Blessed be...
Consumption (Was It?)
5-22-17
God knows my weakness
As to speak to His people from the tower
And celebrate another gospel hour for open hearts
When you call your king to learn about believing
Never doth vary from that which hath been said
Feeling now how vain
As large peace touches the hem of his garment
With blood rushing through my veins
Becoming a flood of tears
Idealizing all of such clownish lusts
For caramel M&M's and mixed nuts
My missions accomplished again today
On top of the world
For even at this time
My whole frame doth tremble
As ye hath hitherto done
To more than one....

numbering
Numbering
5-22-17
Something like that
I never knew rightly
In a need to understand it
Where believing is as seeing
Observe and celebrate
This day, brother Passover
As portions for foxes turning and searching
I need to see your face
As desolate foxes tread upon it
In a tone of cold interpolation
Still a ways away
Great with Him at that time
Observe this day
And speak to me
Foxes have holes
In a darkened space
Tomorrow short but sweet
For all declared pedigrees
Designated by ancestry
Levites not numbered
Nor inhabitants encumbered
In the wilderness we still wander....
Soon Time
5-22-17
Back in time for my birthday lunch with Mother
And Suzanne
For Levites appointed over the tabernacle
Stranger come nigh be brought back to life
For Ephraim and Manasseh
Soon time to walk on over
I hope it's not too late
Land of Reuben of the south side
And land of Dan on the north
O, bring forth that which is due
While ours have will
Gotten lost forever and on the heyday
Found again for rain out of the skies
And colors of a gate
Nadab and Abihu
No such seed
Consecrated and ordained
As the ministry of the priest's office.....
On Psalm 60:6
5-22-17
Let's move on
Back to the sixtieth Psalm
Thou made us drink of the wine of astonishment
But we are not poisoned in that there is no death in the cup
Dividing Shechem to mete out the valley of Succoth
Walk over now
Missions accomplished
In nectarines and peaches and lightbulbs
Give us help from trouble
It's worth every cent it costs
And you know it's free
Through God we do valiantly
O, divide Shechem
And mete out the valley of Succoth
Beneath the surface of the mud
Surprise!

ossifrage
Ossifrage Revisited
5-22-17
Some complain about repetition
Doing one no such good in the neighborhood
Let us lift up our hearts with our hands unto the God in the heavens
To compass me with surrounding gall and travail on the losing end
And the winner's straight edge to take up each morning
Yielding not wholly to his arm
Then you were in love
But now you claim to be as the same
I'll make it somehow
for Ossifrage and eagle
Among mandrakes purer than snow
In case you didn't know for ostriches
That don't want to hide their heads in the sand....
Never Knew Rightly
5-22-17
Slain by sword better than to be slain by hunger
O, good Lord we're not getting any younger
Visage black as coal
As to satisfy ones soul
Eyes fail for vain help
Soon raring to go as glaring for this show
Daring doing what I know
Helping her hand for a memory longer our love
Has made me much stronger
Irresolutely coming to Him from time to time
As these pine away and flow out
Given so much more to say about what we believe
That drowns the enemy of doubt
Good homework, good warfare
Consecrated whiter than milk
How is gold become dim!
Foxes Have Holes
5-22-17
In a mind declining from the proposition
To set it straight but not to hate
But because I choose not to go
For our eyes have failed for our vain help
For coral and for kelp
And seahorses drawing out breast
To give such to young
Being aliens from the commonwealth
Consider and behold our reproach
Rejoice O daughter of Edom that dwell in Uz
Not just because
We used to go out together
And in fact we never said goodbye
To renew our days of old
If a fox go up
Tell him to be prudent
In all of his ways....
