whitewash
Whitewash
5-24-14
By my untempered mortar of that which is known
As my whitewash, O son of man
These have set for themselves up such idols
And put them before those whom are inclined to stumble
By Noah, Daniel and Job
And words to yet whisper and mumble
Where one is one and two is as five
Hoping to prove to myself to be alive
By my untempered mortar yet plastered
I owe it all today to such a master
As its foundation is to be uncovered
By the miracle found in such a disaster....
*May 24th is Bob Dylan's birthday.....
Given
5-24-14
Given for a birthday gift my enigma
In hopes to make it work
In times of less stigma
Gazing at photographs
Taken by my old school camera
When I was not afraid
Hear this, O priests
Incline an ear O house of the King
According to promises yet to be made
I face up to such times of nostalgic antiquity
Making the best of my shelter and shade
For the judgment is toward me my friend
As the rent again is soon to be paid
Given another birthday gift
To serve as my enigma
And I hope to make it work
In times of less stigma
As ye have been a snare of Mizpah
Spreading a net upon Tabor
In that it is given
For me to know it....
Confrontation
5-24-14
I confront my dark past
I make another Sabbath last
Broken by the pen in its contrast
Flying my own flag half mast
It is a crisis of the mind
By the banana peel and orange rind
Which so many other dinosaur fossils I am yet to find
In a prayer to be affected
Because we are here
Making an impact
On these that walked the same way
Yet to be well rounded
In thoughts to say Yeah
I confront this part of my life
Because I indeed am what I am...
Time For A Bath
5-24-14
It is up to us to make ourselves available
And as well accountable
To that which is said to be our part
Yet to be unshod
In that the ground you stand on is holy
And indeed thou art
As manna is my request for today
More than what can be thrown in a shopping cart
And today I must say I reek
But Jesus loves me
Even if I might have left my first love
To seek within, beyond
And yet above....
Repentance (The Gift)
5-24-14
Repentance is a gift
We do so because we get to
By another euphonious and cacophonous riff
Such is an opportunity
To express one's gratitude
As wind rolls by in the lowlight
Born with my stigmatism
I find my way from wrong
In my dull sight
To remember the death, burial
And resurrection
And to love Him
With all of my heart, will and might
Repentance is a gift
But not a requirement
No longer afraid of standing upon my dizzy height
O, no other fount do I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Today do I yet write....
Shave
5-24-14
By the theme of God's providential care
I get a clean change of socks and underwear
By the topic of his majesty
I shave again the locks of my hair
By these events
Of when Jews were captives of Persia
And the significance even in such a vacant stare
As the name Esther so means one's star
Where I still love her from afar
By this generosity at hand
In serving drinks in gold vessels such wine
Requiring not a sign
Yet to do what is divine
By the theme of God's providential care
Our kingdom in Shushan the citadel is there....
