service

Service
11-14-10

Serving someone
Should be a joy and not just a task
Let us embark upon this openly
Without a veil or a mask
Yet to master the art of deep breathing
Thinking of nothing but the sound of my exhalation
Going through the motions of emptying my ashtray
Into my trash can
You tell me to get a life
But I'm not that kind of man
You say that I'm wasting my time
Yet my philosophy is that
There is no such thing...

Poetic Peanuts
11-14-10

Poetry ought to be something to enjoy
For what it is
I ought not make rules of rhyme
Rhythm, meter or even quantity
In an assembly where I ought to hold my tongue
And just listen to the music
A lady friend said that I'm the only one
That can save myself
And I'm still trying to figure out what this means
So I stepped out my east gate
To feed stale peanuts to some luck squirrels
Only one ate what I tossed on the sidewalk
But it was well worth it...

To train the Ear
11-14-10

Meat offered to idols
Can be symbolic of rock and roll
Take heed not to make a stumblingblock
In the path of those who are weak
I choose to jam out alone
To tune into the various parts of the song
Rough and adhesive
As noise can be a beauty
When you learn how to listen
Over a period of years of refinement
This is all for you and me
When we see nothing wrong with it...

Latest Morsel
11-24-10

Focusing on who God is
And not at the problem at hand
Where being at peace is conducive
For one to understand
So I had my cream of wheat
And realized I needed brown sugar
I also needed glass cleaner
Money is tight due to excessive pizza deliveries
Sometimes we would rather not know what is wrong
And sleep at night as if all is well
And day by day we take our heaven with our hell...

Time Again To Meditate
11-14-10

We learn more and more
As we grow to commune with our Creator
And it is as a meteorite that falls
And makes an unusually colossal crater
Soon time to take a break to breath in deep
And seek what is within
Not a taboo
But a key to me and you
And the identity of one
Who still seeks the truth
As I see fit to seize the day
While my skies are still blue...

Stirring Up The Sugar
11-24-10

My coffee acidic
Is capable to disintegrate the hate
And I owe it all to whom is terrible and great
And on another idle Sunday afternoon
I take in intricate melodies
That stir up the sugar in my mind
And by my faith I rise from a restless rest
I still attempt to pass an hour or two
Sleep is hard to come by
When I ought not be there
So instead I step out
On one of the final warm days of the season
It's going to get cold
So I ought to just get used to it....

It Needs To Happen
11-14-10

Pride will keep you from seeing what is wrong
As humility will bring you to confession
Where a blunder will lead you to the writing of this song
As we know that we cannot judge by our first impression
Taking the peace of mind and Spirit for granted
Knowing it needs to happen sooner or later
Don't mean to be pessimistic
I'm only being realistic
To tell a story about what happened to me on that day....

ferrotype

Ferrotype
12-13-13

By my glossy ferrotype
My avacados again are ripe
Even before I purchase them
Of a price of three for five
Dead while I am alive
To conclude how I will survive
Upon which a poet doth but thrive
By my glossy ferrotype
Given my fortieth stripe
Taking my beating
For the cause of pleasure and pain
Hoping that I have not suffered these things in vain
Being no longer afraid to mention the word insane
Where it is what it is
By our overnight freezing rain
By the gloss of all revisions...

Gird
12-13-13

Elders of the daughter of Zion
Sit upon the ground and keep silence
When those of youth
Stand by the river's bank for peace
That is derived from violence
Where the good book is full of such
According to that which we can taste and touch
Girding themselves with sackcloth
By the support of balance upon one's crutch
Where the virgins of Jerusalem
Hang down their heads to the ground
Where we learn to be abased and to abound...

Swoon
12-13-13

Children and sucklings
Swoon in the streets
Choosing wisely such side dishes
Of macaroni and pickled beets
To go along with the rhythm
Of the following sixteen bars
Taking at the feasts
Those lower and humbled seats
Where mine eyes do not fail with tears
To but succeed
By this faith that transcends all fears
By the love unconditional
That the poet doth wrestle with all his strength
Where the liver is poured out upon the earth
According to this lamentation plainly stated..

Inquiry
12-13-13

We emphatically inquire
O, where is the corn and the wine
And so we do without
In that we walk the line
Walking the straight and narrow
Requiring not a sign
Playing Van Morrison archives today
To but pant and pine
By the soul that is poured out
Into their mother's bosom
According to that which I can quote
To yet emphasize
Where we emphatically inquire
O, where are the grapes
And the expired milk
That I partake of when the sun goes down
To know that there are better things yet to come....

Cloak
12-13-13

Capuchins with prehensile tails
Prove the law that God's law never fails
Into our cedar wood
Driving with precision all nails
By this hooden cloak
Worn in the honor of oneself
Taking a photograph of ones reflection
In narcissistic devotions
Discovering today the obscurity
Of hidden emotions
Pouring one more cup of coffee
To prove that indeed
It is
Even where it's not...

Pleura
12-13-13

By pleurisy and inflammation
One needs not be vexed
As by bitterness of wormwood
One can yet decipher the text
Knowing nothing save the Spirit
That indwells a vessel of dishonor
Justified by that which can be seen in this darkness
That light doth shine upon
By the orthography of all that is spelled out plainly
By way of a pen out of its proper use
By pleurisy and ones swelling
Assuaged by morning juice
Gazing upon my Christmas tree
That wants to be a spruce...

admixture

Admixture
6-3-12

Scarlet begonias and indigo tulips
Grow amongst our weeds
In a garden where I condone
The yokes of carpenters with masons
In the admixture of former ways we would walk
Given the available sunlight
To see my way through this day of rhythm and rhyme
She is the splendor to see me through
With this love I take up like the sword...

Offering
6-3-12

Feeling like a cigarette Jesus
In that restless wanderers throng me with requests
For my offerings of gestures of kindness
This is my consolation
In that my conscience is clean
Depending not on such sustenance for the belly
In that I apply the honey in the stead of marmalade jelly
Doing something all through this day
Of mild elements of the breeze that doth bless
The grass and trees....

Going Barefoot
6-3-12

Giving my beautiful feet room to breathe
That carry the word of glad tidings
To the places I go
Without a need to set a foot out
In a physical sense
Keeping it simple with melodies mediocre
Writing these compositions
Not for the loftier eminence
But for the task in itself
Like a dead work made alive
In all that is euphonious
And pleasing to the ear
Of sweet corn I have hopes for
In giving my feet room to breathe....

Good Work
6-3-12

Tea is served
Once, twice and thrice again
Where today's good works
Need not require a lot of muscle
Where we walk by faith
In the available light
Of the day that I live by
Soon to partake in a connection
To succor the moment
Of that Mearle Haggard cover song
In that they made it their own
Tea is served...

Getting Some Sun
6-3-12

Sitting on the grass
On this mild day
To come up with a notion
Stating that there is no law
That a man needs to be busy on a Sunday
Yet to get some sun
To give my fair skin what it wants and needs
Feeding my ears words of consolation
To state that indeed
I will in all of this and that
As I spend the day well
Alongside my cat
Not my own but of such
God has given me...

Illustration
6-3-12

Saw an illustration
Out front on my sidewalk
In the form of a bee landing
I tried to reach out for her
But she flew off
As a portent of pleasure
In what I do today
As I make a landing of my own
Upon a rare and different track
As an illustration
Of doing today what I enjoy
In the sun....

manse

Manse
8-3-14

Of manse residences
We yet embark upon new missions
To step out on faith
In precarious positions
Risking our throats
By sheep, cattle and goats
And hitting those high notes
In singing repetitious
Behold many believers are added
To the kingdom of multitudes
Of both men and women
So it will be
According to the measure of ones faith
For all to see
In what lies in you
Within these boundaries
We are given new eyes to see
As so it will be
A gift given to us for free...

On Acts 5:12 (look this up)
8-3-14

By the hands of the Apostles
Were many signs and wonders are yet wrought
By the findings of our dinosaur fossils
For freedom we have but yet fought
And many believers are added to the kingdom
And many scholars are well taught
To watch this crimson sunrise
That will not come to nought
As they are all of one accord at Solomon's porch
Not as one to but hide
In carrying their glowing torch
A distant brother returns to me my pen
As so last night I give God praise
In my lions' den
As great fear comes upon all of the church
According to the where and when
Here and now tonight
I sing my song again...

At Whales
8-3-14

By thine cetology
Of my citizenship into the kingdom
I greet my fellow whales
At a place of lavish feasting
O, seize the day
And savor the flavor
And swim those seas of serenity
By the louvre in our wall
That succeeds not to divide us
By this zoology of zeal
I enter the kingdom here now and tonight
In that of these wonders  I will write
Taking up new pens by faith and not by sight
Meet me there my brother
And join in the good fight
Cherish your life while you're still around
To that you have this right
By thine cetology of my citizenship
I will meet you there....

Culpable
8-3-14

Culpable commodities we yet crave
And care more for deserving of blame and censure
We but proceed
In our endeavors
In search for more knowledge
Striving against the wind
And blowing smoke
It is a part of life
I fail to but renounce and relinquish
Holding fast to such bondage
In its affections of culpable commodities
Yet evil, yet wrong
And improper and injurious
We but proceed
Serving as our golden calves
According to want and need
It is what it is
Here, now and tonight....

By Ones Amazing Alexia
8-3-14

O, let my words be seasoned with salt
O, may by presence be a blessing
To all that hear what I have to say
To be abased
In that God doth exalt
Where I am blinded by a paradise
Of such utopia
Where it is no ones fault
In that it is what it is
To by coffee froth
And milkshake malt
O, come let us adore him
By ones amazing Alexia
We are made blind
That we might see again
Made poor to become rich
Stripped of all that we might possess all things
Resting upon the waters of our Jordan
The herald angel sings
O, let my words be seasoned with salt
When I go there again....

Clean Sheets
8-3-14

Filled with indignation we rise up
Of the sect of the Saducees
We refill our coffee cup
As so the high priests rise
Before the prudent and the wise
By all lows and highs
Where we are cut back down to size
Humbled to be but exalted
Insomuch as they bring forth
The sick into the streets
Laying them on beds and couches
Where laid out are clean sheets
Spending our last doubloon
On our debauchery
Daring to divert
And not get hurt
To but spend it here
In not need to travel to Spain
To but partake
Here, now and tonight...

Love Apple
8-3-14

And then so were healed
Everyone of their kind
Bringing the sick
And those vexed
To be healed by the meaning of the text
And to but receive what is coming next
This is my testimony
Seemingly ruined by vice
In that I'm still willing to pay the price
We lie to each other so much
Where so comes our multitude
Out of the cities round about our Jerusalem
Taking our bite out of our love apple
In its aphrodisiac arousal
We but partake
As we find a way to stay awake
Not our average sad tomato
But as fruit quite fresh
For the satisfying of the flesh....

Go

O, Go
8-3-14

To the Reubenites
To the Gadites
To the half tribe of Manasseh
And as well to us are these promises
I mention them to prove my point
That no word will come back void
And that God's love will not fail
At our Jordan
That is flowing down by our Jericho
In its fragrant place
I have a story to tell
Of yesterday's blunder
Yet to welcome clouds and their thunder
Yet to obtain my spoil and plunder
O, go and view your Jericho
And see what lies in you
That is in me
Here, now and tonight...

Going Clean Cut
8-3-14

But I did not know where they were from
And I did not beat upon his kettle drum
And I was made alive
And no longer numb
But it happened that the gate was shut
And I fulfill my purpose today
In going clean cut
O, pursue them quickly
For you may overtake them
And be as one to stir up their waters
And make them as when it was dark
They came out to meet me there
To pursue them by the road
And to the fords in fretting
On my dream guitar
Its difficult and intricate chords
Bringing them up to the roof
To hide them in ones stalk of flax
But to pride them....

For We Have Heard
8-3-14

As the spies escape
And report to our hero Joshua
We draw the drape
And but proceed
Getting our poems on tape
And call it not rape
To but impose
And to blow ones nose
And to be pricked by the thorn of the rose
As so now before they lie down
Our Jesus knows
For we have heard
How he dried up those waters
Of our Red Sea
And I have been shown the Way
Deep down inside the real me
O, may it be our lives for yours
Being not intimidated
By those household chores
O, give the job to me
So says my brother
And all will be but fulfilled
Here, now and tonight....

On Joshua 2:29 (look this up)
8-3-14

As you flow trough my life
A thousand oceans
I have known
I quote this passage
But not to but carve it in stone
In a spiritual life
I stand not alone
O, truly the Lord has delivered the land
Into your hand
I am returning the echo of appointed times
I quote this passage
To prove my point
In the form of these rhymes
A thousand warriors I have known
All inhabitants of the country are fainthearted
Because of us
O, truly the Lord has delivered
The land into your hand...

You Will Not Quit
8-3-14

Yes, it is said
That we must remain perfect strangers
And to acknowledge the friction
And not to deny the dangers
Arising early in the morning
Two hours before the sunrise
To follow after the way of the prudent
The chaste and the wise
Coming to the Jordan where the children did lodge
Before passing over
Assuming the position
Of the wanderer and the rover
Let there be a space between you and it
Two thousand cubits
Where the poet doth write his smash hit
For you have not passed this way before
In that you will not quit...

Be Ye Separate
8-3-14

Sanctify yourselves
For tomorrow the Lord to you will do wonders
Set yourselves apart to the sound of these seven thunders
To yet obtain your plunder
And tear yourselves asunder
Be ye separate from the spell you might be under
As this day I will begin to exalt you
That they might know
As I was with he
I will be with you
If indeed that to yourselves
You will be true
I accept this lie
To but fulfill the truth
O, come here and hear these words
And by this you will know
That not one power
Doth but rule the show...

fetish

Fetish
7-1-13

Mentholated mediocrity
Makes its way by the measure we yet mete
In that I made the confession
To be a lover of her feet
Scattering again my seed
For the cause of a deeper healing
To sweep over my shoulders
And lighten the weight
Of bags of sand and boulders
Of mentholated mediocrity
Where I am no longer lukewarm
And therefore not spewed out of the mouth
Of the man to serve as part of the plan
To assume the eagle tonight
In her wing span...

Chastised
7-1-13

Sitting at my computer table
Where I am chastised by the leak in my roof
To prove that God indeed is able
Where my identity is not as my label
Delving into my computer speaker music
To give a sweet rest to my basic cable
Seeing the consequences at hand
In that God is in control
Where I won't always be one to understand.....

Inveterate
7-1-13

Of my inveterate vices
I am still willing to pay such steep prices
As such are ingrained into my consciousness
Where I seem to not be able to go without
Where I had a breakthrough on my uneventful afternoon
Taking shelter from the elements
Where it is not too late nor too soon
Of my inveterate pastimes
To yet rewire my mind
For the comfort at hand....

Pay
7-1-13

O, do we yet pay
For the past tense transgressions
Of our own Israel
Seen in what is not yet made manifest
In hopes to once again tomorrow go west
To see that which my eyes for reading might invest
Waiting for a call
To be filled in with the latest report
Of the situation at hand
Being one to need not the evidence
Nor to be one to completely understand
Where we ask
O, do we still pay...

Centerpiece
7-1-13

My own personal book of Revelation
Has its centerpiece
That I yet reach with roving and wanton eyes
That seek sanction and serenity
In all of this
Knowing that my God is in control
Even in my moment
Of being miles in the depths of such an abyss
Given consolation in the muse at hand
Being not one to have need to understand....

Theme
7-1-13

The theme of the book of Revelation
Is the consummation
Of which I knew very little about
Wielding faith as a weapon against my doubt
In the consummation yet to be performed
By my hand of fate
Yet to destroy again
What he did but create
Given the theme to inspire
Another prophetic dream
Where things are not quite what they seem
Choosing smooth stones from affliction
To serve as ones forever flowing stream....

erelong

Erelong
8-3-14

On summer nights and my radio
Music consists of cricket songs
Out my east window
To serve as choruses of this compassion
I savor it as it were my last
Time to but partake in all that is quiet
And resonant
Here, now and tonight
Of systems involving
Competing and conflicting forces
By these dynamics
Of my dream college courses
The money is there
And I have much to learn
From infinite and abundant sources
O, how is it that you agreed together
To tempt the spirit
But we know that all is well
When such flaws
Doth but serve their purpose
In you and I
Here, now and tonight....

Superable
8-3-14

She fell down straightway at his feet
As such a Bible scholar
Takes out his pen and tablet
Taking again his seat
We want the best of both worlds
By our poverty with all cultural elite
Having nothing but possessing all things
Soon to partake in my whole wheat
Surmountable and able to overcome it
O, come on baby
Close your eyes
And sing and hum it
Superable and able
To discern fact from fable
It's not work that makes it work
Or nor is it our cares
That make us what we are
Here, now and tonight....

Erelong (Part 2)
8-3-14

Now there's a picture in the gallery
That transcends our job and our salary
Soon and before long
Erelong
And right around the corner
Of these D.C. backstreets
Of new found hope
Coming from the tribulation
That worketh patience and experience
We have it clean cut and dry
Within ourselves as the fruit of our labor
We forget where we come from
Sometimes as so of the rest of them
Durst no man join themselves
To where many were added to the kingdom
By the key we choose to hold in our hand
As the book of the law
Will not depart from your mouth...

I Have Given
8-3-14

By the law of appropriation
God gives so that we must take
O, woe is me that I never thought of this before
Knowing not my ladder from my snake
O, love walks in
And makes us alive and awake
This serves as my childlike scribbling
On my blank page
To but release the catch
Tasting of the fancy stuff
I get my head rush of the Spirit at work
Seeing another world and some other time
Working in my members
By the law of appropriation
God so gives
That we must take....

O, Pass Through
8-3-14

As Joshua assumes command
I read on in hopes to understand
O, pass through their camp
And command them to take each other by the hand
Being promised to know a seed as numerable
As stars of heaven and grains of sand
Soon time to prepare provisions
For within three days
We will pass over
And not empty handed
As Joshua assumes command
Our cattle are so branded
As love comes walking in
Like some strange alien
O, remember what has been said
And claim your territory
As so the Lord has given it to you
Here, now and tonight...

On Joshua 1:14 (look this up)
8-3-14

On this side of Jordan
Your livestock will remain
Take the highs with the blues
And the sunshine with the rain
In that these words written here
Will not be in vain
On this side of Jordan
I make my way out
God is with you wherever you go
So do not doubt
As it is not certain
Just where our conquest hast occurred
By these types that make our truth clear
According to the word
Always wanting one more
Never satisfied
With what seems but absurd
On this side of Jordan
It will be here, now and tonight....

Be Strong And Of Good Courage
8-3-14

Until he hath given me rest
Again come Tuesday
I go back west
Where I will be as a witness
And to be one to pass the test
Seizing five kings at Makkedah
In which my soul doth yet invest
I am alive today
Holding cards tight to my chest
So why not draw the line
And meet God halfway
And hope for the best
Even when I don't know what this means
To return to the land of such a possession
And to enjoy it
Given on this side of Jordan
Towards the sunrise
We are yet to capture
Just as we heeded him
We will heed you
I'll meet you halfway....
