To the Reubenites
To the Gadites
To the half tribe of Manasseh
And as well to us are these promises
I mention them to prove my point
That no word will come back void
And that God's love will not fail
At our Jordan
That is flowing down by our Jericho
In its fragrant place
I have a story to tell
Of yesterday's blunder
Yet to welcome clouds and their thunder
Yet to obtain my spoil and plunder

Going Clean Cut

But I did not know where they were from
And I did not beat upon his kettle drum
And I was made alive
And no longer numb
But it happened that the gate was shut
And I fulfill my purpose today
In going clean cut
O, pursue them quickly
For you may overtake them
And be as one to stir up their waters
And make them as when it was dark
They came out to meet me there
To pursue them by the road
And to the fords in fretting

Its difficult and intricate chords
Bringing them up to the roof
To hide them in ones stalk of flax

For We Have Heard

As the spies escape
And report to our hero Joshua
We draw the drape
And but proceed
Getting our poems on tape
And call it not rape
To but impose
And to blow ones nose
And to be pricked by the thorn of the rose
As so now before they lie down
Our Jesus knows
For we have heard
How he dried up those waters
Of our Red Sea
And I have been shown the Way
Deep down inside the real me
O, may it be our lives for yours
Being not intimidated
By those household chores
O, give the job to me
So says my brother
And all will be but fulfilled

That we must remain perfect strangers
And to acknowledge the friction
And not to deny the dangers
Arising early in the morning
Two hours before the sunrise
To follow after the way of the prudent
The chaste and the wise
Coming to the Jordan where the children did lodge
Before passing over
Assuming the position
Of the wanderer and the rover
Let there be a space between you and it
Two thousand cubits
Where the poet doth write his smash hit

Sanctify yourselves
For tomorrow the Lord to you will do wonders
Set yourselves apart to the sound of these seven thunders
To yet obtain your plunder
And tear yourselves asunder
Be ye separate from the spell you might be under
As this day I will begin to exalt you
That they might know
As I was with he
I will be with you
If indeed that to yourselves
You will be true
I accept this lie
To but fulfill the truth
O, come here and hear these words
And by this you will know
That not one power
Doth but rule the show...
