affinity

Affinity
7-7-12

Solomon makes affinity with the Pharaoh
Stated in the present tense
As if it were a dream I had last night
Upon a pallet of coolness and comfort
As I offer up a provision
To a lady friend I pray for
That last night
I had not the power
In my hand to serve
Preoccupied in meditations
About these illusions quite needful
In that they are...

Clips
7-7-12

I have my work cut out for me
With clips of compassion
On my free shows
Where the good Lord knows
In the love of my own toes
Where the beauty of the perennial
Still in me yet grows
As I wait for a call from my preacher
In that I am absent without leave
Yet here rather than there
With my work cut out for me
Running up my electric bill
with time to resurrect and kill
Writing rhymes all day
In God's will...

No Mediocrity
7-7-12

There is no mediocrity
In the word of truth
Made as flesh needful for you and I
To yet transcend
Given this hot day
To write by the light through my east window
From where I can see into the heavens
Without a need to look outside
In that there is no mediocrity
In the love I put into practice
With prayers for all
Whom are in my heart
To serve with such a love today...

Magi
7-7-12

The light of a brighter star
In the east sky
Was a reason to rejoice
In that I spend all day today in deep study
And contemplation
To the sound of free shows
Without a need to purchase a ticket
At the box office
Thinking outside such a box
And not putting my God in such
With my notebooks that serve as musical instruments
Of such light of the brighter star
Of which these wisemen rejoice
In that it is our free choice...

Fortunate
7-7-12

It is fulfilled
That he is called a Nazarene
Out of luck yet blessed
In these mid hot summer
Deeper hues of green
More than fortunate
In the way things have been
With God's mercy
In the shelter from the elements
It's a beautiful day to abide in coolness
With only the need to let the sunlight shine on through
Yeah, it is fulfilled....

Fetish
7-7-12

John the Baptist
Wore a raiment of camel's hair
But me, I just sit around the house
In nothing but my underwear
To serve as a fetish
That keeps me going back there
This is what I do
All the day long for comfort and fulfillment
To do something about the time on my hands and feet
A fetish that serves as my incentive
And to try and to do
It is what I love so much about you...
