Ptera Wing
9-13-14

Of my nectaring species
I devote a mutual respect
To those whom scatter their pollen
In fields of plenty
There is always something new to say about it
Of lepid scale and ptera wing
Butterflies don't need to sing
Serving as my first topic of discussion
Of my gossamer and metalmark
I do here my thing
I choose to let her fly away
After sharing my mayonnaise
I can feel this sense of measure
As my latest idolatry justified
With purity and its pleasure....

My Metalmark
9-13-14

Break it down
These dreams that I make real
O, go into town
For there is so much more in this to see
And to feel
Of my swallowtail and brushfoot
I confront my dark past of such ignorance
Concerning my next meal
This is good stuff
Going to the meadows of the Ozarks
O, sometimes I wish there was no prejudice or partiality
Come skippers and neighboring hairstreaks
The world is a beautiful place
If we can see it this way
Just another pitstop along the Lincoln Highway
Break it down...

A New Beginning Is Near
9-13-14

Switching back over to my blue ink
Just to say that I did something about it
Of my regal fritillaries
I taste to words to come to see it up close and clear
O, treat it lightly
And give over to God all fear
Referring to the notes I took
By my first library visit upon my retreat
A new beginning is near
Of the neighboring nectaring species
I'll take you for a ride
O, have a good time
By my latest idolatry
Justified and condoned...

Proof
9-13-14

If you hate proof
Then blame Euclid
If you loathe the theorem
Then blame Pythagoras
Attempting here to say something new
About what I have seen
O, set your hearts all along the river
Flowing to the sea
My English teacher says I am cheating
When I write my rhymes with headphones on
As we cross in close proximity
I arrive the moment I am gone
Research as well Archimedes
And recycle all of such old thought
Incorporated into the rhymes I am yet to write...

Citadel
9-13-14

O, Pergamos
Translated as being married to the tower
The citadel of purity
That produces one's power
Of angles trisected
To but pass smoothly another diligent hour
I switch over to my herbal tea
As a step in the right direction
Where the poison doth not devour
And so I ought to give up the question why
And ask instead what can I learn from this
O, Pergamos
It never has been easy...

My Common Prayer
9-13-14

O, Lord guide and direct me
To be a blessing to all I see by the way
O, make my paths straight
So I can experience this love today
As one to open the Door
Spelled with a capital letter
Giving me much more that I can come out and say
Greeting my angel with her laptop
I keep these hallucinations at bay
By their traditions
They keep on keeping their doors closed
O, Lord guide, direct and lead me there
With a brow of brass and my iron nose....

Smile
9-14-14

Of Babylonian reckoning
And of our zygomaticus beckoning
All is well with he that doth yet seek it out
To but renounce all of such fear and doubt
I begin another prolific sitting
To grasp what it can be about
By my angle trisected
To stand within and without
I know not what I say here
But I proceed just the same
Called in the year of accession
It is what it is in this session....

Wake Up And Be
9-14-14

O, why must we wait till morning light
To wake up and be
And love with all of our might
To purpose in one's heart
To yet defile ourselves
In the king's delicacies
As grasshoppers in our own sight
In the third year of Jehoiakim
We make it right and hang tight
O, what do I have to say about such a matter
Brought about in favor and goodwill
Of the chief of eunuchs
I am what I am
In what I can see
Give up the question why
And ask instead
What can I learn from this...
