Crammed
6-29-15
The earth is crammed with heaven
And every common bush afire
I dig in my heels come the hour of seven
In honest apparel and true attire
In and out today up and down
In the here and now
Given the wherewithal and the know how
Recycling the same old thoughts
The earth is crammed with heaven
But God gives it a body as it hath pleased him
And to every seed his own body
All flesh is not the same
For men, beasts, fishes and birds
For pen, for priests
For wishes and words
Soon I will be on my way....
I Can Do This
6-29-15
Taking the child up after he is weaned
Offering three bullocks and an ephah of flour
And a bottle of wine
Sons of Eli were sons of Belial to minister
Girded with the linen of sash
In my wallet ninety dollars of lukewarm cash
Crazy, loopy and offbeat
As much as possible I beat this heat
O, dead grain that it might be a chance of wheat
A thousand twain
By the milk one washes down the meat
That which thou sow is not quickened except it die...
Celestial Writings
6-29-15
I glory of the celestial is one
And that of the terrestrial is another
As clouds move in to sheathe the sun
And I have gained another brother
Where Charles Dickens dies of a stroke
And another personal record for writing is broke
And soon I crave another smoke
Little Dorrit, falling on hard times and Barnary Rudge in his Bleak House
With a blacking shoe polish and fretting to be abolished
Used to impart a finishing for Pickwick Papers in the hands of Oliver Twist
I wear my watch on my right wrist....
Sown
6-29-15
Insolent, unable to meet debts
Or discharge liabilities
Yet living like a millionaire
Sitting on gold at his mercies are ever of old
There is one glory of the sun
And another of the stars
One glory for my shopping run
And yet another for the moon
Making visible the cars
So also is the resurrection
Wherein I learn how to wait on the Lord
And to chase the hour away
Sown in dishonor
But raised in glory
Sown natural
But raised spiritual
Sown in weakness
Raised in power
Insolent but rich
To sew another stitch....
Chartism
6-29-15
Dombey and Son
A novel about pride
Scarlet Letter
A book about adultery
For all jollification, festivity and revelry
Going back to Crimera
My peninsula of worthiness
Our reason the be here
The Son will lead us
I have waited all day for this moment
No such tenotomy, no such chartism
Yet to inaugurate and to induct
God is on the side of his people
By his encompassing protection
I'm taking a step in the right direction
Peace be upon those that are struggling...
