I rise again before the morning light
To return to the coffee joint
Unleaded for my palate's might
He will bless you in all the work of thine hand
He will have you to love and understand

He knoweth thy waiting and thy sitting
Telling it like it is
And no black hairs to be splitting
Read the book and gain the power
Bait the hook in spite of the sun shower
Come the fragrance following the rain
To live is Christ and to die is gain...




Prayer Of Jabez

O, pray the prayer of Jabez
O, enlarge our coasts
Not according to what One boasts
But to put forth today my posts
Praying for God's favor
In promoting the work I do here, Now and today
Savoring the flavor of what is more than come what may
He'll bless you in all of the work of your hand
O, prophesy and say thus saith the Lord concerning Ammonites
Say thy sword is drawn
Settling down in Cheapside
But not for eminence or for pride
The city shed blood in the midst of it
And we are yet to but confide...

Making idols against herself
To be yet defiled
Breaking bridles upon my bookshelf
As my hair is volumnized and styled
Hitting the note for compositions stacked and filed
I'm going to have to mend my ways and quit ye like men
You are clothed with honor and majesty
For inspiration of this pen
And I will rise at five tomorrow
And do it all again
The earth is satisfied with the fruit of your works
O, wilt thou judge the bloody city
Ye, thou will show her the way....

You're the life of the party
And everybody's host
And you get just what you believe in the most
Behold the princes every one in thee
To their power to shed blood
Where all I can do is ponder
And chew the cud
In thee they have set light in the midst of thee
They react by opposition with the stranger
I won't be put six feet in the ground
But instead have my ashes scattered
In my favorite place of my day of excess
Don't look behind you according to those who be near
Which art infamous and much vexed
Today I let it fly in quoting verses
Through all blessings and curses
You're the life of the party....

You're a very sick individual
So says my ego as if it were a good thing
There the ships sail about and the albatross takes wing
By us the birds of heaven will have their nests
Where everything is interconnected
Of whole notes and quarter rests
Playing old school Genesis cassettes
O, you ministers of Him whom do His pleasure
The servant invests
O, bless the Lord and his works in all places of his dominion
But not according to opinion
Where the rising tide absorbs them
Such needs not be a burden
Where there is much more blessing....
