lawgivers

Lawgivers
7-11-18

Where lawgivers do their thing
and I resume such as we were growing famous through the stresses
Of the Cold War years all for the storm across the valley
And afternoon heavy on your shoulder publicly read to an audience  of bibliophiles
Yet colonial a light in your eyes that makes him warm
Printed again soon
Can you relate to all love and hate
Such as she was and not just because
The gift outright in the Inaugural Address in venerable poets
We find it anew as it belongs to politics just as well
In our Augustan age....

Unforgetable Impressions (In Deaver)
7-11-18

What's the latest thing
The neighbors say in emphasis on power
Another man of another hour occupied by the new business
We come together at least twice a year to express our deep convictions and concerns
Way out on the outskirts of town for our peck of gold
And a new pair of spectacles
I go home and write some more
As breezes blow low like gold dusted in William Prescott
For all blind bosses carrying their crosses
Every eleventh of July.......

Still Growing Up
7-11-18

By inculcating nobility reading a sign
Leading us in the other direction for free choice up against maudlin sentimentality
Go home said the man in the moon next weekend
And I believe in freedom
How can a man die better looking for Noah Brooks
Somewhere in the spirit world quite obvious to all drifters
O, follow through along Main Street as to strut up and down
To rove for pleasure in corporate settings south of Kansas
As recommendations did suffice in purpose of authoritarianism
Still growing up.....
