roughneck

Roughneck
6-5-18

In true black Ohio skies
Have you seen it on high in a certain kind of opportunity
In de Montalvo in the memory of mankind
Drink is short lived as a casual investigation
If I could I'd think of something better
Still buying books much used as touched as abused
Everyone needs a better day
Even when want and need has been confused
Freedom replacing responsibility eastward
I go only by force and westward I go free
O, afterword how much do you see?
Back in Eldorado
Order in ruins....

On The Nevada Border
6-5-18

Something must be done
I've got to put my foot down
And say enough's enough
In the name of God and civilization
Such a life we have in common
Need to take a stand on this
And perhaps new territory where time doesn't give a reason
As peaches and plums are back in season
Digging roots and weaving baskets
As leaving caskets
We all rise someday as to manifest
All of such destiny
And our menacing breed of color and creed
Of Bold Mountain men and fool's gold
All for benevolent despotism
As to raise cattle
But not to go to battle......

Indio (Filtered)
6-5-18

Planting a colony in snow
Choked passes of the Sierras
Behind the mountain barrier
Shortly on the way to the next journey
Seen as the destination and one more weekend
I live it up all for sin in a cup
Settled on our laurels for California bank-notes
To feel for you north into Oregon over Mount Shasta
All the way down to Indio as flowers bloom
Where I wasn't made for the scene
Now that we know the many hues of green....

Pa, Help Me!
6-5-18

Life is now and lliving it right here
As a banner of the Americans carried to the Pacific back in Switzerland
As few and gold to pull me out from inside
Rich in silver mines as to be covered in kidskin
In the heart of the Isthmus of Danana
Many find wealth in the simplicity of health
Voyaging around the horn all for Argonauts just passing through
As growing bountiful even while in resolution failing to keep it
As a house upon a hill cannot be hidden
As the tinders of the gibbet
Pa, help me!
