give the leu

Give The Leu
8-1-16

With a leu in my pocket
I toss it in the tip jar
God's economy includes giving it all away
Love does not make false claims come permanence and delusion
As to effervesce another letup of driving rains
We make it home high and dry
Breezes spent on August afternoons
Clad in cardigan
All of them as Sodom
And inhabitants of Gomorrah
Our temple has begun to strengthen
The hands of one who does good
To wheedle by beguiling in acts and words
Seeing folly in the prophets of Samaria
May we yet coax....

As In Sodom
8-1-16

Going to bed eight more times
Underfed not to hate those chimes
Blessed be the Lord this day
May your way be straight and theirs be slippery and dark
Given all the vices of Sodom
In which I see fit to partake
Ones foible for harangue and diatribe before the sermon
To get me fired up to hear the message
Yet sermonizing hortatory upon the road
Flames without twice thinking one-fifth of the way
May us raise our staves in what the chronic craves
I wish that I could mend them in my frayed heart....

Digging For Dreams
8-1-16

Not enough of a garden
And just as much as our pardon
Persecution, see the writing on the wall
Have our fire and laugh and be not afraid
Digging for the dreams today
Legislature and gentility
All I see is the solution
War is for everyone
Even while peace is for children of walled-off ground
Where a shop had stood closing down
The gas stations casting about for a corner
A dying voice within me
To think of an idle bit like timbrels
They ring out without lawful authority
De-facto
God exists
Digging down as far as China
Hanging in the balance
Going out to crow....
