Hun
10-8-10
I consult the definition of a word such as hun
To find it as a disparaging term
For a German soldier in World War One
We all have our destructive words to say
May us speak to rather edify
May us build each other up
Rather than ask why
It is my passion to learn new words
As I see it the same fascination
As the watching of birds
And this is as well a responsibility in being a poet
For refinement
So that I'll have more to write about....
Concoction
10-8-10
Stirring up a concoction
Of both resentment and joy
For I have made peace with days
When I use words to destroy
I was entitled to my animosity
In the days when I just didn't get it
When understanding was so hard to come by
So I will glory in this battle between jaundice and goodwill
As if once more I was a boy
As we'll use words either to build or destroy
Stirring up a concoction of both resentment and joy....
Still Idle
10-8-10
On another pleasurable afternoon
I bear apprehension of returning to the work world
In knowing I can't go on like this forever
It is good to have this time to ramble
And in a symbolic sense gamble
And to sweep up the shard and shamble
Passing the time listening to rock and roll political activists
To know there is nothing wrong with this
Everyone is entitled to what they have to say
And as of me I have much in my mouth to contribute
Hoping to be as enlightenment
To the rest of the group....
