Getting In Tune
6-7-12
Gymnasts and steeplejacks learn to climb
In the improving of physique
Not to conform
But to build one's confidence
Where I need tighten my belt
Due to some shaping up
Like the car that is put in tune
With its chrome
And thou that claims to teach another
Will teach himself
In words spoken of the truth
That makes one whole...
Dial
6-7-12
Setting my air conditioner dial
To my lucky number three
On a day of even a luckier number seven
Watching the winning cars around the track
Of which I aspire to
In my own form of admiration
Of how they are put together
On this prolific day of coming and going
In my own kind of way
Seeing the distinction between spirituality and religion
In a race between the seagull and the pigeon
Where neither try to be the one to come in first...
Purling Streams
6-7-12
Purling streams in their rippling motions
Bring to the surface comforting emotions
With a game on of the Dodgers and Phillies
Yet to zero in on the tendon of the Achilles
Yet to eddy and flow
To a river that provides a drink
For all that thirst
Yet to learn to love oneself
In that he puts God first
In the unity of this esteem...
Early Start
6-8-12
God woke me early this morning for a reason
In his plan and will
Where the road to glory is narrow
And few will see it
Yet I see much greater things than these
To walk a road set apart from the doctrine
On the television
Seeing there is so much more to this
Than what people say
Find it for yourself
And you will see greater things than these...
Middling
6-8-12
Middling and mediocre melodies are mingled
In the riffs of new morning hope
For a good start for a beautiful weekend of rhyme
Coming to terms with a child within
To make amends in that last night
I came a little bit too close to the mercy seat
Of the mystery in store for those of faith
When today I will say what is given unto me freely
Of the word made as flesh
In all of this...
Chuffed
6-8-12
Chuffed, proud and delighted
To be at the feast
With the appetite like a beast
Where sunlight emanates from my window facing east
With the knoll and toll of morning bells
To signify the goal
To find on the golden shore choice clam shells
Chuffed, proud and delighted
Just to be here today
With music to encourage
What in me is dark
In the lighting of a new way...
Bright And Early
6-8-12
Bright and early
Yet somehow still quite dark
Where the paper lady brings grim tidings
Of storms in the reports mercurial and capricious
In the constant change of what we may have to expect
Yet it is all up to God
What is in store for today
Bright and early
Starting fresh with good coffee
And her motor running right by my side
Bright and early....
Preference For Distance
6-8-12
I have no intentions
To think of myself only
I just do what I have to do
To cover my ground
My coffee ground percolated
In the preference for the distance
Between friends and neighbors
That makes the heart grow fonder
And closer to the truth
In its authenticity
Having no intentions
To be as miserly in all of this
Yet choosing to do as I see fit
In what I have to offer
Even if words are all I have to give....
On Matthew 8:28
6-8-12
Coming into the country of the Gergasenes
Humble in that I am not such a man of means
Content in what I am able to do
Even when it's not much
Crossing again to the other shore
To know that of itself
Nothing is called unclean or impure
Where even Friday the thirteenth
Can be a day lucky, fortunate and blessed
In that we are under this grace
Where it is just to be honest
In entering into the country of the Gergesenes...
