On Daniel 6:17
1-22-14
Yet saturnine, somber and taciturn
I make due by the incentive
Of how I have a lot to learn
Sluggish and gloomy in temperament
By the time of day from both ends I burn
Yet saturnine, down and out and quite downcast
I make my morning coffee and smoke last
By such a stone set at the mouth of the den
Knowing today to be delivered
So I might take up this pen
Once again...
Pardon
1-22-14
To pardon yet rebuke and chasten
To take one's time but yet be one to hasten
To keep silent but to raise one's voice to shout
To abase yet abound in what it's all about
As according to the word
He hath pardoned
Where the earth is full of this glory to dissolve all doubt
Because such a people saw those signs performed
Going along for the ride but not conformed
To pardon but rebuke and discipline
Where we will be forgiven of all our sin
Consuming that which is this
In what is that....
Cluster
1-22-14
Into the wilderness
By the Way of the Red Sea
Of which this word Way is spelled with a capital letter
According to what God has made in me
As Caleb would go in
Because he instead believed
And Joshua as well would see such clusters of grapes
Brought back from this good land
Into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea
O, would have it been better
If we died in Egypt
This is human nature talking
According to the flesh
As so we press onward
Trying to make it to our Kadesh...
Pickle
1-22-14
It's no longer about what one can get out of it
Nor according to the quantity of a number
Where one is yet content with
A cluster of seedless red grapes
And a pickled cucumber
he4lping me to fall asleep on this cold night
Dropping to record low temperatures
To test one's faith and might
It's no longer about what is in it for me
Nor according to ill gotten gain
Staying home to capture my sunlight as I live
I do it just for what it is
According to this of which is that...
Refinement
1-22-14
Our sons will be as shepherds
In the wilderness forty years
To fulfill our pilgrimage
And our seeming manifested trails of tears
In that God is tested those ten times
In murmurings in doubts and fears
You would not go up because of unbelief
To the songs of fools
I, even I incline an ear
O, how long shall I be one to bear it any longer
In that this vexation
I believe has made me stronger...
Fresh Start
1-22-14
By one's wrong reaction he is defeated
Yet to persevere even while with evil yet entreated
Given another day of leisure
To partake in Scripture
As well as my carnal pleasure
Where the people mourned greatly
Rising early in the morning
To heat my coffee and pray for a wonderful day
That lies ahead
By one's wrong reaction
Climbing to the top of his mountain
He is wearied
Seeing the bitter side of this
Of which is of that...
Moving On
1-22-14
Moving onto chapter fifteen
To see what our fighting with the Amalakites can mean
Yeah, they are our bread
By which we are well fed
And these problems today are only in my head
By which I am well prepared to face it
When it comes to reward
Stipe on vocals and Bill on the drums
As so his lifestyle does not lower my opinion
Of him as an artist
It is what it is
And I enjoy it for the music alone
As so he that is without sin
Doth cast the first stone...
Stranger
1-22-14
In entering Canaan
There will be rules for our best interests
Like minnows that swim in their new and old schools
Not just for they who are advanced in years
Upon the wise and just as well for the fools
In that there's something in it for everyone
Where my cup of coffee slowly cools
To the stranger just as well to our native born
Not to muzzle the ox that treads out of the corn
By the rain that falls on the wicked
As well as the just
Today in my God I will put my trust...
Newcomer
1-22-14
The monotony of these insignificant details
Are as part of the relationship
Where we might very well bear with it
Because we love him
Seeing today the importance
Even if it might not apply to such a particular reader
Whom returns to the word like a newcomer
As a stranger to this commonwealth
So many scholars choose to skim over it
To resume in these next paragraphs
Of which we can make much better sense
Now that we have come to understand it...
