material from last year's super bowl..
Countdown To Kickoff
1-27-13
Seven days to the super bowl Sunday
Of one's life ahead of him
Smoking my last cigarette with faith
That I will get what I want and need today
By the final countdown to the kickoff
Where the sun shines upon my cat's fur
As gilded with grace and God's glory
On this Lord's day
Where I step out to see something glorious...
Clay
1-27-13
Jesus didn't throw the clay away
Called the man of sorrows
Whom carried our burdens today
For he is the truth, the light, the life and the Way
Still working on the me
That is still under the construction
Of working men
Where I recall last night's dream
Of treading water in a dark lake
Illuminated by new hopes to go there again...
By The World Hated
1-27-13
We as Bible scholars
Are yet to find how the book of Isaiah
Is about being hated for the cause of Christ
Counted blessed in such an endeavor
In that we invest in the rest of forever
And in the depths of my compassion
I have an earnest need
To share what I have to say about it
Today given one more hour until we embark
Upon this mission
To go there and hear about it...
Keeping The Blood
1-27-13
They tried to take the word blood out of the psalm books
On a cold day in late January
To serve as a blessing in disguise
Where going right back
Last night in God's eyes
So was a choice sound and wise
Praying without ceasing
And rejoicing evermore
Yet to be purified and refined
As all inside of me
Is called as just and pure
Happy today to go back for more...
Gethsename
1-27-13
We all have our own Gethsename
Where God allows the pain in our lives
To build our character
Putting grit in our craw
In that love will serve as the higher law
Without blemish and without flaw
Where we are nursed in pickled beats and coleslaw
Where a poet eats his garlic and onions raw
We all have our own Gethsename
Where Christ learns obedience
In the things he does suffer....
Yet A Babe
1-27-13
Yeah, I'm still a babe
Not weaned from the milk I finish last night
As if it were now and today
Yeah, I'm still crass and green
In the things I say that I will mean
In this sacred year of thirteen
Where I pray to make the scene
And for Scripture today be the fiend
Yeah, I'm still growing
In that Jesus I will be knowing
Yeah, I'm still me
Being myself that Jesus wants me to be
And I know it's going to work out
For the grater good...
Lofty Lord's Day
1-27-13
Learning much today
On the Lord's day
In the spirit within myself
Coming quite far
Coming out of it like a star
Like the inheritance of a new car
Learning my idols apart from a friendship
That is the most lofty of titles
That we can know in our words of wisdom
In weal with woe
Learning much today in all of this
Given to bask in love, joy and peace
And in bliss...
My Cunning Work
1-27-13
In the wisdom of the embroiderer and the engraver
So was set into its own fashion
That golden laver
Where I come to terms with the part of me
I still need to become as one with
Where duality doth melt into the unity of Spirit
In that it's all good
Even when all I know
Is the shadow of such an illustration
Of a type to represent the weakness
Wherein is power
In that juxtaposed is every petal of such a flower
In the me that I see in you....
The Curious And Beautiful
1-27-13
The curious will be as beautiful
When it comes to thine illumination
Shining forth from the dark
In hopes to overcome all strongholds in their severity
With serenity in my serenade
Making known a voice that wants and needs to be manifested
In meekness no longer melancholy
In that such a tenure is brought to the open light
Of the sun today
Giving what he has
Without expecting anything of the sort in return...
Determined Today
1-27-13
Determined today
To stay in the Way
Where I press play
According to my salmon fillet
Determined tonight
To sip coffee as I write
Letting my cat do her thing
With prayer that such will be fulfilled
Seeing such to be just what it is
Determined this afternoon
To welcome the glow of our full moon
With no plan in mind
Save the faith I am yet to find
Determined to just simply be...
On Isaiah 1:3
1-27-13
My oxen knows his owner
And the asses their master's crib
Where I go back to my favorite steakhouse
For the decadence of prime rib
Never again trying to be the vegetarian
I once had known in times of partiality
Where I would look sideways upon positions of eminence
Seeing to it that I do my part
In such faithfulness put into my practice...
Intercession
1-28-13
O, Lord my Savior
I intercede to see to the need and take the lead
Devising curious works of purple, indigo and jade
With a voice inside of me
Saying that indeed I have it made
O, Lord my savior
I intercede for those at work on our utilities
As we speak...
Snuffdish
1-28-13
Of ashtrays and snuffdishes
We are given daily our three promised wishes
Praying for a miracle in all of this
Where it is no longer an alternative
To say that ignorance is bliss
Of ashtrays and snuffdishes
And of curtains and hangings
I pray for those without this full circle
So that they might be at peace
About what goes on all around us.....
