confident
Confident
11-22-10
I have many stories to tell
About my days at the pet shop
I was an alcoholic
Still am
But I'm three months sober
Work is overwhelming
Looking back to what I've accomplished
To be confident with what is coming my way
I've attained many new gifts since then
And new ideas as tools
In a box of ingenuity
Don't sweat the small stuff
Easier thought of than practiced
I think I'm going to make it good....
Ode Of How I Do It
11-22-10
Easing into it
A boss used to say
Work smart and not too hard
Don't sweat the small stuff
Don't be so hard on yourself
So she says
I use the same coffee cup for weeks
Living alone, I have this liberty and choice
Which leads to another voice
The devil says how do you live with yourself
And O, how do you sleep at night
And to describe it
I say one word
And that is denial...
Still Good
11-22-10
My candy is still good
Even after it is expired
When in a sense
I am both at once
Employed and retired
Seems I can't get enough
Of those peace inducing vapors
Of life and death
Where the objective
Is to think about nothing at all
But your deeper breath
Skittles for lunch
Without a need for an epiphany
Nor a hunch
Be not attached to phenomena
But you can enjoy it while it lasts
As I meditate with slow motion
In mastication
Trying to be here and now....
Enhance Your Scope
11-22-10
In novels the antagonist
For the most part is killed off
Unless perhaps there are sequels
And when it doesn't come so easily
Let the river flow just as it does
It is what it is
So they have been saying
Yet you ought to go by what you say to be true
And honest with yourself
Reading and writing will enhance your scope of insight
Along with music and reading of other poets passed on
Implanting vivid dreams
More lucid close to dawn
When it is good to see
In this life
All that there is to perceive....
A Need To Slow Down
11-22-10
I poetry writing
I have the obsession of the objective of quantity
In my mind I collect like coins
Methods to improve
Often I am defeated in wanting
To do more than what I am able
Tasting wine may have helped my mind
In learning of ways to savor
This poem could write a whole book
Perhaps in the future
When I have the capacity
Of restraint of enthusiasm...
Boots On
11-22-10
Keeping my boots on
Such can be an adage
Of which I don't yet know its meaning
I'm scattered
I have too many books out at once
Keeping my boots on
In case that soon I have a place to go
Yet living as if I'll remain
Raise your hands in the air
And say out loud I do not know
If in your own company
Where the sense of taste
Can bring on another poem
Yet still I'm keeping my boots on...
