envelope

Envelope
1-4-14

Four hundred and thirty years later
A magic envelope comes into existence
So I can pay my rent come Monday
Of which we do not add nor annul
By the glory of selfies
Hung upon my west wall
Sipping today on my chamomile
As the music is a perfect description
Of all I think and feel
Four hundred and thirty years later
The law is added because of offenses
Having much to do with past, present and future tenses
Making not the promise of no effect
By the smoothness of garden fences....

Bride
1-4-14

Yes, we are called as the Jews
In my cessation of my excess
According to my much wanted booze
Where the word of God
Is where I choose to get my news
By our passage paraphrased
According to out lunatics, fanatics in the word
And crazed beside themselves
For this great cause
By perfection that comes about by our flaws
Yes, we are of Christ, the bride
Being ones to come out and say it
And no longer try to hide...

Of But One Word
1-4-14

I must say that a billion or so poems
Can be today written of but one word
Of such Scripture
Seen as honorable and illuminating
And by no means insignificant or absurd
By this inexhaustible supply
Coming from the Source
Of what can never be used up
Making hot again my herbal teacup
Learning to love what God hath made of me
Putting my new mirror gift to its proper use
Adoring all that I see
In my morning juice....

Had
1-4-14

It seems that what tastes good
Can, on us, go bad
Thrown for a loop
In that again I've been had
Where our simple pleasure
Doth serve as a passing fad
By recollections of my first infatuation
Wanting to recreate it
In its saturation mawkish and sentimental
To an old Springsteen tune played full blast
While playing Nintendo games
Telling my girl that I was sick
And that I couldn't make the scene
By the contrast of yellow snow
By the fallen needles of my main evergreen
Trying to build muscle by way of milkshakes
Yet to find out just what it takes to be a man...

Proof
1-4-14

Now to Abraham and his seed
Were the promises made
In a place where it reaches a hundred and two in the shade
By our need of cold water and the clay yet preserved of the potter
And seeds of many
That will be as one
Not here on business
But here just for fun
By the law proved inveterate
Sinfulness of the nature of all mankind
Being a thing I cannot grasp
In this limited scope of my fleshly mind
As so my mission is accomplished
Ready to send out my rent check
Paid in full and signed...

By One Commandment Kept
1-4-14

The intent of the law is condemnation
Where one is commended in where he succeeds
To keep but one of these commandments
Written upon fleshly tablets of stone
For the cause that we need not stand alone
By our preparatory discipline
In entering our danger and comfort zone
Being much too hard on myself
Disguising my voice over the telephone
As the seed doth come
To whom the promise was made
As so this price in full by Jesus is paid...
