wannabe

The Wannabe
11-28-09

The wannabe is someone
Who aspires to emulate another's success
As souls are put through the furnace
And hearts through the grape press
As I see how the cartoon can be as a horror flick
As I purchase a new candle
To see the need to trim short the wick
As yet many notebooks I have filled
As hours are resurrected where they were killed
As a man is no better than the next
As he will learn and grow
From the given text

Family Of Instruments
11-28-09

If the guitar would have a nephew or niece
Then we would consider as well the ombouchure
And the mouthpiece
If the base drum had a son or a daughter
Then many would lead their lambs to the slaughter
And if the saxophone had a brother or a sister
Then mollified would be our thumb
Where was formed a blister
As we have need to be injured
So that we might learn how to play...

If We Waited
11-28-09

If I waited till things were perfect and sound
Then truly I would be missing out on the action
As it is said we are to punch in the number
Followed by the pound
As success is according to our instinct and reaction
If I waited till the storms cleared
Then I suppose that nothing would be done
As for the unfavorable team, the crowd cheered
As I am to rejoice in times from sundown to sun
The time to do something about it is right Now.....

Of Naivety And Concern
11-28-09
There is a gloomy age of ignorance and suspicion
As we can know victory even in our precarious position
As I view a portrait of to which I bow
As we are better off to live in the here and Now
There is a golden age of naivety and concern
As we all have so much more to devour and to learn
And we say that we are schizophrenic
When we see what we see as a cartoon
As we say that we are obsessive compulsive
In our pursuits of our next full moon...

Wager
11-28-09

We make our wager of equal odds and even money
A society makes millions out of sugar, milk and honey
As I am guilty of the amount of my consumption
As I am made familiar
By the profit in presumption
We make our wager
In even money and equal odds
As we find new ways in worship
In familiar spirits and strange gods
We yet make our wager of our bids and bets
As we spend most of our money on wine and cigarettes....

Gestures
11-28-09

May us learn of the gestures
Of Greece and Rome
May us have dignity in our new car
Of our polished chrome
May us learn of the history of France and Spain
May us see our pleasure
In our affliction and our pain
I'm needing some assistance
To set up my tree
And I must have completion
In order to be free
May us learn of the ways of Corinth and Madrid
May us learn yet much
In what we already did...
