Brother
10-8-12
James was a bondservant
Yet counted as a brother
In that these ten commandments hang upon the top two
That tell us to love one another
I write this poem to yet state the things that the crowd does not say too often
As James was the bondservant
Yet counted as a close friend
In that the poor today are rich
Where we can know that we are
And no longer need pretend....
My Argosy
10-8-12
Upon my argosy in my fleet
I pray for those that are out on the street
Drifting with the current on a sea of trade
Upon my argosy by God and for him yet made
Thanking my God in all things
Here and now upon my argosy
Simply stated as a merchant ship of a fleet humble
And therefore yet to be exalted at two in the afternoon
When it may just as well be the middle of the night
In that I thank my God even in such a gloom I count as beautiful
Where the fowls of the air gather in a tree adjacent....
My Famine
10-8-12
My famine is feminine
In that I have not known a wife
Supposing it to be part of God's plan
So that I might have the time to seek out what is his
And call it mine
Being as a younger brother
To the King of the Jews
Yet exalted above all that we can touch and see
My famine so is frivolous
In that I lack nothing of the sort today....
On Isaiah 31:5
10-8-12
As birds that fly overhead
It is God that saves me today
Where a man does not live on bread alone
But by every word of God
Of this big mouth called the bible
That I will be safe when I draw nearer
To him in times of this overcast afternoon
Waiting all day for night to come
Saying another blessing for my neighbors
Forgiving all of them willingly
For their reverberating base riffs in the parking lot
As birds that fly overhead today
The Lord doth save me....
My Smoke And Joe
10-8-12
Every generation has their chance to change the world
In that we all quote each other
In reciprocation as a whole
In the unity that ought to be
In our hearts of the love straight from the source
Knowing grace today in that I practice believing without wavering
Knowing the diet of champions to be my smoke and Joe
Given the grace of God to yet think
Being as an action more eminent
Even to those that really know....
