Making crosses in the ballpark
Whom have we defrauded
O, whom have I oppressed
So I will restore it to you
A Christian ought not be distressed
Thou not defrauded us nor taken aught from any man's hand
It is the Lord that advanced us
And brought us across the Red Sea
To hear and but see
The you that is in me
Selling them into the land of Sisera
As the captain of the host of Hazor
Breaking out my new toothbrush
And straight edged razor
O, whose ox have I taken
O, have I been much mistaken....




Thickset

I, old and grayheaded
In a parallel lucid dream of another version of myself
Take these things hence
Make not his house a house of merchandise
Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up
Burning out at the Ukraine
For armies of engineers
Squatty and dumpy and low to the ground
Disproportiate, thickset and short and stout
A fool to contemplate set in close arrangement and dense
I felt the cave in my shoulder blade was like another promise
Made to but break for midnight snacks readymade....




Trip to the Market

The music suffers
Like one at work on a new dream
She says it's my call and I have every right
While thick-skinned for the cause of Apostle Paul
And to read those epistles again
O, how can a man be born when he is old, callous and obtuse
Getting in on their juice
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense
A family of musicians take shelter for the night
I keep reminding myself that my gift is well worth the suffering
For God is Spirit that doth but overcome...





Honest Engine Coast

Sorrow is everywhere you turn
But at least such is something more we can learn
Quoting what is written in red to declare that Jesus is not dead
Behold I am with thee
I that speak unto thee am He
Hoping to take my latest stand
And make a choice not to step out for a cigarette
This is the only life many would much rather believe
That is worth some money
As the woman that left her
Wandering all along the honest engine coast
This time I would rather not go back on my word
Through which God's Word so flows.....
