Servant
10-14-13
Poets and slaves do serve
Getting more out of it
Than what they deserve
Where the servant is the highest of all titles
And the child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven
Where poets and slaves find their way
In the darkness dispelled by the available light
That an eye can see in all dimness wondering why
I write these words of exhortation at hand
Of poets and slaves
That serve God's purpose
In all that is yet to be said of it....
Zin
10-14-13
Praying for manna again
To be the sustenance of this humble pen
Delivered again from the lion's den
Smiting my rock twice
To accentuate the where and when
Given this new rhyme scheme
For the cause of last night's prophetic dream
Of my theme park ride of darkness
According to the now of my Zen
In the wilderness of Zin
Wandering aimlessly
So that I might find it...
Hillbilly Hippie
10-14-13
By my backwoods beatitude of my basking and bliss
I am yet uncouth in drinking my own piss
Wherein believe it or not
This is just as well written in the Scripture
That does not change
Where we are not to diminish
Nor add to it
By my backwoods beatitude
I am yet rustic
Like a hillbilly hippie of sorts
Doing just what he does about it...
Wisdom To Apply
10-14-13
Christianity is more than just its academic
Where I seek to apply what I have studied
To a life yet under his construction
Wanting more than the faith
According to the word of truth
Of which I want to do something
With where our hoar hairs
Serve as a sign of wisdom
Defined as what you do with what you know
In that I want to perform
That which in the holy spirit I've been taught...
Dauntless
10-14-13
The dying of Aaron
Marks the end of the wanderings of the people
That thirsted
Where Moses smites the rock twice
So that the people and their animals might drink
This is a mystery I read of today
Upon which I can deeply ponder
In that I think
In that I find it a miracle
When life is hard
In that I am driven again to the brink
Where ripples do not cease to flow...
Relative
10-14-13
Yet related and affined
Are dispositions to which we are inclined
Yet connected and closely bound
Where the new album has its excellent and wonderful sound
Through earphone speakers
Where I sit at my table facing east
Where the kingdom is illustrated as the beast
Yet related and affined
In the forest where roots grow deep entwined...
On Isaiah 47:2
10-14-13
To uncover one's thigh
So was the command at high noon
Yet to expose that which is lascivious and lewd
As a sacred truth to stir it up and set the mood
Making bare the leg to prove a point
That it's more than just one's vesture
That makes one's decency
To uncover one's locks
And make known the face
Where we are what we are
By God's good grace...
Millstone
10-14-13
Taking up my millstones to grind the meal
Seeing that truth lies in what I think and feel
No longer trying to be strong in being real
Where God is my strength today
Where we can still spin the wheel
Where our nakedness is to be uncovered
And shame to be seen
Where I am yet unfledged
Callow, crass and green
I say this much to be humbled
So I can know what such a thing can mean...
Savannah
10-14-13
In the plain of our savannah
We are surnamed as the savant
Yet not to take credit
For what God has given us
According to the knowledge at hand
Of coarse grasses and scattered tree growth
Where rainfall is seasonal and abundant
To yet bless the fertile ground
Of sustenance in the plain of our savannah...
