Brand
12-13-13

The cross is our wisdom
And his stripes our knowledge
Where I pray for a brother going off to bible collage
By all marks and brands
And of hair one's multitude of strands
Given these new techniques
To but properly to with sands
Fill up my hands
In my study of a map of Corinth
To wonder of these walls of woe and weal
Not intended to keep us out
But to express the way we feel
Where the cross is our wisdom
So hard to bear
In that I allow myself to say
That indeed today I care...

Where
12-13-13

O, where is the wise
O, where is the pundit
Given discernment
To tell the truth from these lies
O, where is the disputer of this age
Where we lay down our weapons
In the wars we are yet to wage
Where it is greater to conquer oneself
Than to take out thousands in battle
O, where is the scribe
Serving as a tender of lambs and cattle
Drinking my milk and shearing such wool
O, where is the wise
That doth admonish the fool...

Sober (40 Months)
12-13-13

Greeks seek after wisdom
And the Jews require a sign
Where I regard my dreams of returning to my wine
Being almost forty months sober
To fulfill this abstinence divine
Where we preach Christ crucified
To the Jews a stumblingblock
And to the Greeks as foolishness
As so with going without
Such that practices this doth walk the line
Where my sorrow rises up inside of me
Of where I failed to perform
The milking of the milch kine....

Of Me And God
12-13-13

In God we can see these similar aspects
That lie within ourselves
Given the whole library in my left hand
Of such neglected shelves
Finding out much about our identity
Written in red letters
Of voices that speak the truth in meekness
Where that which is stronger  than men
Will serve as Christ's weakness
Considering the amplitheatre on the map
In my study bible of my free choice
Living and breathing this Scripture
By the sound of this still small voice...

Hoar Frost
12-13-13

Bringing to nothing the things that are
By that which we cannot see before our faces
Praying for the present tense
Pertaining to a hope in my future of newfound places
Being as one with my feline companion
According to God's loving kindness and graces
Sampling this manna provided
Upon the dew of grasses
Given freely to all lads and lasses
Of which for we yet pray
In our wanderings in this wilderness
That such peace transcends and surpasses
Bringing to nought what we can yet touch and see...

B.C.
12-13-13

Buddha and Christ
Have their similar teachings
According to this discernible truth
Where he in his ripe age
Can come to terms with a spiritual aspect
Of our unrefined innocence of youth
As so it seems to be spoken against
In a congregation by which the word is preached
Seen as a go between and a mediator
Made manifest for the cause to yet but impute
In that I know not what I say
Of these angles obtuse and acute...

High Noon
12-13-13

Hoping to try to visualize
The love, peace and joy of our One God
And to be one to imagine his effulgence
Upon an almond budded rod
Extended to those whom knock at his door in repetition
Until one doth receive an answer at the chime of noon
When I am still going strong in verse and rhyme
Turning back the pages
To first and second Corinthians
To yet reiterate what we have heard
Working out one's own salvation
In Spirit that conquers the flesh by its word
Hoping to imagine
What it is to know this love
No longer obscure or absurd...

Nothing Is Something
12-13-13

Coming to nought are the rulers of such an age
Measured not according to the hands of time
So passed in poetic diligence
In one's utterance made manifest
By all that is silent
Where such will be as our wisdom
To put to shame that which appears violent
Being the peacemaker
Being the miracle
Rather than expecting one to come
Out of nowhere at all
Where coming to nought
Is the wisdom of this age
In this seclusion for its own purpose
In all that is yet to be known in this....

Flesh And Faith
12-13-13

By the carnal state that perverts spiritual growth
We still seek out these states of bliss
For which the wanting make their oath
To yet conclude the cake that we eat
In that we can have them both
Raving on about what today I have seen
Yet crass, yet unfledged, yet green
Seeing this carnal state as the mediator
To know the invisible
By which are made possible by things seen
Where the law is as the tutor
To lead us to our higher ground...

Armor
12-13-13

I am God's building
And I am God's field
Taking up the sword
That is the word and his righteousness
That is one's shield
And the helmet of salvation
And the shoes of the preparation of the gospel of peace
Where we do yet water
In that God gives the increase
I write these words today
Because it is God's word that doth not return void
And by this quote that I again repeat I will build
And yeah, I will plant these seeds
To be yet scattered in God's field
Where raised is God's building
In the you that today is in me....

Receive
12-13-13

To receive it
Is to grasp
The adder and the asp
Prostrated upon his belly
To lick up the dust
According to the bondage
Of shackle and clasp
Wanting to become as the eagle flying free
Desiring to see into the higher truth
Of what God hath made in me
Where I am yet carnal
Fed with milk and not with solid food
Given such enthusiasm
Where I am in the learning mood
Where giants need milk just as well
As babes whom take barbecue ribs in small bites
Where there are yet divisions among us...

Conviction
12-13-13

Discerning conviction
In the contrast of condemnation
Knowing the love of God afresh
Unconditional
Of which today I wrestle
With arms that seek to yet embrace mine infirmity
Where such serves as the gift
Wherein that which I want not, that I do
Where this here is my own form of prayer and fasting
Being one to cleave to life everlasting
That is as the here and now
Like shadows so casting
On a day when I never put on my shoes
To go out Christmas shopping
Of which I put my trust in this providence
Being worked out by hope undeffered...
