What Else But Home
3-14-16

I give something back for something I get
And likewise vice versa
Feeling undeserving
I try to make sense
Of my cat chasing spirits
O, our Jamaica run
I try as a child
In the upper chariots
Reflecting between downpours
Soon to make clean kitchen and bathroom floors
He is not ashamed to please his brother
I'd not be in a hurry
To say I'm picking on Robert Frost
And Jon Donne
"Heme", he mocks
Yes what else but home
Where the bison roam
And the dromedaries do likewise
Where here your proud waves begin again
She's trying, you know.....

Heatwave Stanza
3-14-16

Waters harden like stone
Where I listen to the Spirit groan
Knowing not in plain words just what to pray
For my mercury mouth capricious
And prayers like rhymes
Do you know the time when wild mountain goats rear
Your O, sap eyed lady
You will smile again
Warren returns too soon
The mountain holds the town as a shadow
There is no reason to try to speak
Heat pours against the wall
And my flesh is weak
As one to live standing without
Another summer day verse
A blessing in the curse
Causing the dawn to know its place....
