I find myself sympathetic and empathetic
About the enemy that wants to devour all that he can find
Finding myself no longer apathetic
Of the drama deep down in my mind
Where I get in touch with this deeper essence within
And I grow out my beard once again to see it as not a sin
Given this pen all day on another hot one...

God today chastens those whom he would love
In that I seek not things of the earth
But that which lies above
Hoping for a prolific day
Staying cool in this ninth week of this library retreat
Which means not my seclusion nor defeat
Observing the beautiful perspiration
Upon the back of an entity of eminence of high esteem
Where so begins my dream....

Such commands are set in place
So we can know joy more abundantly
With faith being as the chief
To give not place today to the thief
Where I must have hope
That my God has another seed in store
To spill upon my belly
On this night of new opportunities
To live like it were my last
And to press forward and leave behind my dark past
To learn of the truth about the real me
Acceptable in any place I might stand...

The Spirit constrains me to turn back the pages
So that I might write this dissertation
About the bounty of another history lesson
Where I give God thanks for every miniscule iota
Between here and there at a time such as Now
Where the temple is to be rebuilt
For the cause of testimony
Of those whom go into exile today
For the cause of study....
