Mastodon Smile
7-6-13
I smile regardless of a fate worse than death
In that today I owe my God my every breath
I smile just the same in the face of fear
To be a blessing to my mastodon and megathere
He is far away yet quite close
He is my muse today
Illuminated even while morose
With knobkerries we are yet to be smitten
Where my elder cat thinks she is a kitten
I smile in spite of the trial
Where today my pen goes the extra mile....
Box
7-6-13
I bring my alabaster box of ointment
Seeing that nothing ever goes to waste
By such an appointment performing a good work
On he whom leaves his legacy to those in need
Where this particular national anthem sounds like beautiful noise
By which the poet sows another seed
For all equilibrium and poise
Bringing my alabaster box
So that wrought can be another good work
By a lamb sly as such a fox....
