extra inning

Extra Inning
4-15-05

And I find myself yet lacking and in need
When the coffee grows lukewarm in my cup
As all one needs to do to succeed
Is to simply walk out their front door and show up
And it is better to go to the house of mourning
Then to the house of the feast
As so better is the sight of the eyes
Than the wandering of desire
To see the star in the east
As so the wise men will bring all they have to give
As by what you receive so is a living
As giving will serve as a way to live
And so the end of these things is much better than its beginning
As for our ticket we get our money's worth
While in the game will be an extra inning.....

Quoting Solomon Again
4-15-05

And so it seems better to hear the rebuke of the wise
Than to listen to the songs of fools
As so we are taught to steer clear of the lies
And for our benefit so are written the rules
And it is good to listen to even what we want to hear
As so folly comes with ignorance
For it is better to fear
But I must say I will never be one to talk
And never will be the one to judge
For in my class of home economics
I scribble in yellow chalk a secret recipe
Of that sinful white chocolate fudge
And it is always good to learn something new
While in the by and by
I write my songs in ink of black and blue....

Onerous Weight
4-15-05

And as evening light fades and the sun goes down
It matters no longer that the day is dreary
And I still press on in the seeking of my crown
And its obstinence persists even if I might be down and out and weary
And so you increase and accumulate
So your life will become an onerous weight
And you wake late in the afternoon
With dust on your conscience
As you see that your burden is great
And you see the need to clean up
But you don't know just where to begin
And of your morning coffee you pour yourself another cup
And when you're up against bondage and flesh
Without the Spirit indwelling you'll never win
And so as night fades
And the sun is soon to rise
You give thanks for what you have seen
As still you persist in seeking this prize....

To Land In The Cypress
4-15-05

And as I meander at the bookstore
I stare into space and gaze in contentment towards the east wall
And I cast all cares on the Creator
And I lean upon his grace
And give thanks in knowing that I'm better off here
Then across the street at the shopping mall
And while cross pollinating
We are as working bees
As so we hover with content
Over the needles of coniferous trees
And in the here and now
We will find pleasant places to rest
As we will be ordained to fester in the forests of the Midwest
And soon I lay down to sleep
And for all I say my prayers
And proceed into the world of dream
As I forget about my cares....
