quoting Huxley

Quoting Huxley
4-27-09

Rolling in the muck is not the best way of getting clean
I quote this saying to dissect pistils and stamens
Of a flower that will represent what it all can mean
Cherishing every bar, even every note
The staff we yet write upon is as the helm to our boat
My Dad once said that bees were smarter than working men
Just another inspiration for me to take up my pen
Brother tells me I ought to try my hand at free verse
Wine is a blessing that at times will serve as the curse....

Pursuits
4-27-09

Religion will be the intellectual pursuit of my final end
We are given a freewill to seek
This, may us defend
America is where it's all possible
Whether you are patriotic or not
Principles will yet fail
Morality will fade and rot
Moment to moment we are reborn
Encouraged to keep it up
As the pessimist still says that half empty is the cup
Religion will be the fundamental pursuit of another new beginning
As we are given new hopes
Even when it seems like the dark side is winning
By Huxley these words are inspired
And I will read on....

Ode Of Mount Saint Hellens
4-27-09

Purged of all decency
I am sullied by corruption
The people live in fear of the next volcanic eruption
I am what I am yet I am not ashamed
As in our circumstances
Yet another era is vainly named
Time to try out charm school to learn good manners
As America must wave all flags and banners
Stuck in the mud but washed in the blood
Still I dream of the fire and the flood
We savor the flavor when the chewing gets tough
Taking a shopping run with the attitude
That beef is enough...
