facile

Facile
11-17-15

Skillful, nimble and facile and deft
Just to see what remains in what is left
Let the deal go down and swallow your treble cleft
Easily accomplished and attained a letter written in Syrian tongue
Being forty-two years young
They trouble and frighten them in building
The deal yet to go down sounds wise
But I will not taste it
Joining and repairing foundations
Our Jews build our rebellious city
But for what but to crack the walnut
Mount Wolf six miles north
And Red Lion six miles south
Thou endamage the revenue of kings
To pay toll, tribute and custom...

Plowing Into Judges
11-17-15

Judges follows Joshua
Something I have not considered in years
Ran into a rainstorm in my tomorrow
As if it were here and now
The least of my fears
Tomorrow I choose to stay home
After therapy gathering the tribes at Shechem
Still on my hands and knees even at Terah
Dwelling on the other side of the flood
A letter written in Syrian
As I pour down the sink last night's mud
For the father of Nachor
They served other gods
God forbid that we should forsake him
For strange gods are among you
Like the wasp that stung you
Judah shall go up after Joshua is gone....

Asherites (Dwell With Them)
11-17-15

Thou endamage revenue of kings
As so our curlew warbles as our jay sings
This city is rebellious
Inhabitants purchase their chains and gold rings
In the second year of the reign of Darius
O, what joy it brings for Darius made his decree
And a search is made in the house of rolls for free
Our archives and our sheaves
and the falling of the final leaves
Some are never blown away
As treasures laid up in Babylon
Inside is a record written
I rock on to it
Asherites dwell with them
For they did not drive them out
Becoming tributaries of captivity
This city is to be built again
As work on the house ceased.....
