by faith

By Faith
2-15-03

Home is a place from where I can draw strength and joy
As so there will be prayers to offer
And pens to christen and employ
And it is by faith that I picked up this tablet to begin to write
As I'm in a need for a second wind to begin
Any such possibilities of a prolific night
As it's a matter of getting my bulldozer out of the deep mud
And remind myself that I am more than just a machine
Of which chrome is washed clean in the blood....

There's No Hurry
2-15-03

Let the festivities so begin at eleven
In studies and explorations of the treasures of heaven
And I work on shorter stanzas
That serve as the lesser clouds
In the deeper layers of the atmosphere
As I give thanks for the smell of a coffee pot
And this music I hear
And I am glad for this peace I've had
And a ewe lamb of whose coat we sheer
Need to put together a new coat of which to impart upon the poor
As through my working day I daydream, drift and float
And take this burden as if it were a blessing
Trying to find just why I carry this weight for
So let the festivities begin at twelve
At liberty to take my time as coffee I pour...

Determined To Press On
2-15-03

On another full moon late night
As pulling the cap off the pen is half the fight
And so the cup has grown cold and bitter
But I choose to bear it as I stick it out
Refusing to become a quitter
And so I'm determined to press on
And milk this thrill like a cow until it's gone
And if I wait long enough
Maybe a warmer wave will drift this way
And when times get rough
I remember Jesus
And consider the blessing
Of being at liberty to pray
For I write on this night
And it's not of myself or even me
As at a steady pace
I so partake of this grace
And inspiration to retain water
Like the roots of an evergreen tree....

The Morning Vitamin
2-15-03

And so I must say with a blue pen
I'm fighting the blues
Trying to drown a sad thought
With crazy stories on the news
Trying to forget the drama
Getting out of my work outfit
And taking off my cheap shoes
And it's hallelujiah once again
As the multitude of stars of heaven
Started out with only threescore and ten
And we must keep in remembrance
Just how abundantly we've been blessed
And rise to the alarm once more at eight
And get up and get ready for work
And get dressed and take down our vitamin
With a glass of juice
And remember that only the good Lord today needs be impressed.....
