Preparation
5-8-13
Making ready my Passover of tomorrow's ascension
According to the calendar that hangs on my kitchen west wall
To be as a sign of my hopes for a future
In speaking out about what I have been taught
In the solitude behind these walls
Too long in exile
According to my muse
Of Van, the man at the chime of two
Once again yet to take up my other pen
So that she won't need be idle
In my time of plenty....
Testimony
5-8-13
Yet to seek out the lily of the testimony
To go again in dreams to my own valley of Salt
Where many are to be slain for the cause
To me in a figurative sense
Where yet to die is gain
And to live is Christ
Feeling as if I am to be appointed
As prophet and poet and scholar
Yet not to glory in such an honor
Above that which is already written there
Later on breaking out the dark roast Foldiers
That indeed nurse all valiant soldiers....
Alchemy
5-8-13
Thirty pieces of silver
So were the price of blood
To know that when I stay indoors
Today I won't track in mud
Yet to travel in this imagination of recollection of last night's dreams
Of rolling down steep hills
Upon wheels of my karma and Zen
To wake to beautiful music yet silent
Playing deep down in a soul of the serenity at hand
Taking up the Philosopher's stone to turn this lead into gold
And such brass into platinum
With all that I know what to do with it today
Devoted to rhyme and verse....
Manna Is Enough
5-8-13
Today, O my brother
Manna is enough
And I must say that indeed
I really love this stuff
As the substance in the form of words
Of the Spirit without form in itself
Halfway through my day
With nothing in my stomach save my morning coffee
And a quart of cold tap water
Hoping to cleanse my blood of all such dross
Seeing my gain to be in any of such loss
And if this is all that I do
Then indeed I do well....
