it's another day

It's Another Day
10-28-10

It's another day and another fresh pot of joe
It's a beautiful day and I have no place to go
The Word is in power and not in wisdom
But still I think that it's good to know
It's another day
I look out my window and it's bright
I took a giant leap of logic
Now that I live by day and sleep at night
I took several subtle steps backward
It's another day....

A Verse Bound
10-28-10

I was reading a verse from Paul's epistles
And it seemed somehow to be bound in chains
Where I walk a path obstructed with brambles and thistles
As I have much less today flowing through my veins
O, Lord unlock all wisdom and understanding
And loose, Lord all fetters and shackles
And so the hour of noon rolls around
And I hope to God that he will make life better
But the voice says that
I, myself need to do something about it....

Casting Lots
10-28-10

I had to flip a silver dollar to decide my vote
As walking in the middle of the road
Will serve as my beam and mote
So it came up heads and decided to go right
As indecision and anticipation will serve as my fight
So I had to cast lots
Like it has been written of in the Word
Where we come across contradictions
To make it all seem absurd...

Poetic Flu
10-29-10

I had the poetic flu
Much like the boogie woogie flu
But not quite the same funk
I ought not speak so soon for I still might have it
It's a condition where the words don't flow quite as easy
Where I decide that I don't always need to rhyme
I still have the poetic flu
And the medicine is rest if I can even sleep at all
So I drink my coffee like it's cough syrup
Without a clue of what to inscribe next....
